Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To describe postoperative outcomes and current practices in monitoring, nursing care, and patient counseling following surgery for laryngeal papillomatosis at the National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital of Vietnam. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 51 patients who underwent surgery for laryngeal papillomatosis from January to August 2025. Results: Postoperatively, 92.2% of patients had stable respiratory status, 88.2% had no bleeding or edema, and 84.3% reported a high level of satisfaction with nursing care. At one week, 72.5% showed good voice improvement. Mean pain scores decreased from 6.1 ± 1.5 on postoperative day 1 to 2.3 ± 1.1 on day 3, while the proportions of patients with good sleep and normal oral intake increased from 45.1% and 29.4% to 82.4% and 80.4%, respectively. Vital signs and respiratory status were fully monitored in all patients, while postoperative complications were monitored in 96.1%. Complete voice rehabilitation guidance and health education were provided to 41.2% and 56.9% of patients, respectively. Conclusion: Early postoperative status generally improved. Voice rehabilitation guidance and patient education should be strengthened and standardized.
