Evaluation the result of no packing endoscopic sinus surgery at Post and Telecom General Hospital

Abstract
Background: This study was designed to evaluate effect of the endoscopic sinus surgery without using merocel.
Methods: Crossectional study without control group. From January 2022 through July 2023, 18 patients who underwent ESS were evaluated at P&T general hospital.
Demographic characteristics, medical history, disease extent and surgical procedures were analyzed. Postoperative symptoms and endoscopic findings were evaluated also.
Results: Patients aged 59 years and older account for more than 50%. The patients’ symptoms improved early on the first day after surgery and vanished on the 4th week after surgery (except for nasal discharge ~10%). Abnormal signs on nasal endoscopy also disappeared after 4 weeks. There were no cases of postoperative complications. Nearly 90% of cases are discharged from the hospital 24 hours after surgery.
Conclusion: Endoscopic sinus surgery without using merocel is a safe and efficient technique. Patients felt more comfortable and improved almost symptoms after endoscopic sinus surgery. The hospitation is also shorter.
