Abstract

Post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage is the most common and perilous complication of tonsillectomy and is the primary concern of otolaryngologists, despite continued efforts in improving surgical and hemostatic technique for the purpose of reducing this complication. At the same time, to our knowledge, no evidence-based guidelines currently have been proposed to help clinicians deal with it. The objective of this study is, therefore, to synthesize the available evidence and provide general suggestions for the management of bleeding following tonsillectomy with the aim of contributing to control the rate of this complication.
