EXPERT CONSENSUS ON THE EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF FEXOFENADINE IN THE TREATMENT OF ALLERGIC RHINITIS IN VIETNAM

Abstract

Objective: To establish an expert consensus on the efficacy, safety, and clinical role of fexofenadine in the management of allergic rhinitis in Vietnam. Methods: A modified Delphi approach was applied to a panel of Vietnamese otorhinolaryngology specialists based on updated medical evidence from clinical trials and real-world practice surveys. Results: Fexofenadine improves symptoms within 60 min, maintains efficacy for 24 hours, does not impair cognitive or psychomotor functions, and is well tolerated in older adults and children. Conclusion: The expert panel agreed that Fexofenadine should be considered one of the preferred options for allergic rhinitis treatment in Vietnam, particularly in the context of increasing air pollution, the need for sustained treament, and clinical situations in which alertness and safety are essential.
