Abstract

Background: Post COVID-19 symptom remains a pressing health issue and causes long-term impacts on the quality of life among recovered COVID-19 patients. Our study aims (1) to identify the prevalence of patients with otolaryngology problems presenting post COVID-19 symptoms; (2) to explore the common post COVID-19 symptoms among patients with otolaryngology diseases. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 157 patients at the Hue University Hospital using the Case report form for post COVID-19 symptoms developed by World Health Organization (Post COVID-19 CRF). Results: The prevalence of patients with otolaryngology diseases presenting post COVID-19 symptoms was 36.9%. Of these, the proportion of female participants with post COVID-19 symptoms (68.2%) was double higher than males (38.2%). The common post COVID-19 symptoms include forgetfulness (41.4%), loss of sleep (36.2%), dizziness (13.8%), reduced smell (12.1%), and fatigue (12.1%). Conclusions: The findings provide valuable suggestions on the common symptoms related to post COVID-19 symptoms, contributing to rapid response and better orientation in the care management of patients with a history of COVID-19 infection.
