REVIEW OF SUDDEN HEARING LOSS: ETIOLOGY AND TREATMENT METHODS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To provide an overview of the etiology, pathogenesis, and effectiveness of current treatments for sudden, sensory hearing loss. Method: A scoping review. Results: From 64 retrieved documents, 10 relevant articles were analyzed. Results: Lipid metabolism disorders and rare immune responses following vaccination were identified as new etiologies requiring attention. Modern intervention techniques such as transtympanic injection via gelfoam implants and acoustic resonance therapy significantly improve hearing, especially in salvage treatment. Conclusions: Adherence to standard treatment algorithms combined with personalized therapy based on hearing phenotype is key to optimizing recovery for patients.
