Abstract

Objective: To provide an overview of the efficacy, molecular mechanisms, and safety of atmospheric pressure cryotherapy in the treatment of acute and chronic wounds. Methods: A scoping review. Results: Atmospheric pressure cryotherapy promotes wound healing by eliminating drug-resistant bacteria, destroying biofilms, modulating inflammatory cytokines, and activating proliferative signaling pathways such as PI3K/AKT and MAPK via protein kinase CK2. Clinical trials showed that CAP significantly reduced wound area (p<0.0001), decreased wound pH, and improved patient quality of life due to marked pain reduction. Conclusion: Atmospheric pressure cryotherapy is an effective non-invasive treatment for difficult-to-heal wounds, especially diabetic foot ulcers.
