Abstract

This analysis aims to clarify the concept of “Mindfulness in Nursing” by applying a conceptual analysis model. This concept refers to the psychological state and practice of intentionally and non-judgmentally focusing attention on the present moment. Core attributes of Mindfulness include present-focused awareness, non-judgmental and accepting attitudes, emotional and cognitive self-regulation, and its application in nursing practice (empathy and self-care). Mindfulness-based interventions have demonstrated significant effectiveness in reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout in nursing students and staff. In addition, Mindfulness promotes compassion/empathy and resilience. Although its consistency in effectiveness for depression may not be as high as for stress and anxiety, Mindfulness remains a fundamental, indispensable tool for improving psychological well-being and enhancing patient care in the challenging context of nursing.
