Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To assess the outcomes of postoperative care for inpatients after stapedectomy. Materials and methods: The paper described 76 patients who underwent stapedectomy at the Department of Otology, National Otolaryngology Hospital, between February 2023 and July 2024. Results: The most prevalent age group was 18 to 45 years old, accounting for 72.4%. The ratio female:male was 2.16:1. Dizziness was the most common symptom on the first postoperative day (76.3%). The number of patients at high or medium risk of falling was highest in the first two days after surgery (78.9%). Vomiting and nausea were the most common symptoms within the first three days following surgery, accounting for 77.6% and 81.6%, respectively. Patients with a VAS pain level of 3-4 points were the most common on the first day following surgery (38.2%). There was not any patient suffering from facial paralysis. 18.4% of patients experienced headaches. 17.1% of patients experienced taste abnormalities. At discharge, all patients' incisions were dry and clean. Conclusion: Proper postoperative care for stapedectomy patients is critical to the surgery's success. This task requires collaboration between nurses and doctors in order to enhance effectiveness and limit potential complications.
