Abstract

Introduction: Pott’s puffy tumor (PPT) is an infection of the frontal sinus, accompanied by the formation of subperiosteal and intracranial abscesses. This is a rare condition, commonly occurring in adolescents, often resulting from untreated sinusitis, head trauma, substance abuse, or odontogenic infections. Objective: To describe the clinical features, diagnostic approach, and treatment of a case of pansinusitis complicated by a frontal epidural abscess.
Case Presentation: A 16-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital with fever, headache, and significant forehead swelling. Imaging studies revealed frontal, maxillary, and left ethmoidal sinusitis, along with an epidural abscess in the frontal region. The patient was initially treated with antibiotics, followed by endoscopic frontal sinus drainage and postoperative antibiotic therapy. Results:At follow-up, the patient demonstrated good wound healing, with no signs of recurrent abscess formation or sinusitis. Conclusion: Pott’s puffy tumor requires prompt diagnosis and treatment to prevent severe complications. Imaging modalities, including computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), play a crucial role in diagnosing and assessing complications of the disease.
