Main Article Content
Abstract
Our study was conducted was conducted on 50 patients at the Endoscopy Department of the National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital from February 2023 to August 2023 to assess the monitoring and postoperative care following flexible endoscopic laryngeal biopsy. Patient characteristics: the majority were male (96%) with a mean age of 63.66 ± 9.67 years, and 38% were retirees. Common risk factors included prolonged smoking (92%), using a toothbrush for over three months (88%), and alcoholism (80%). All patients presented with hoarseness. Post-biopsy outcomes: Pain levels were minimal (0.04 ± 0.28 points), with no significant change compared to pre-procedure levels. Nutritional status remained stable without statistically significant variation. Flexible endoscopic biopsy was generally safe, with no severe complications observed in over 90% of cases. Moderate to severe dyspnea (8%) was managed with nasal cannula and nebulized oxygen therapy. All patients received detailed instructions on hygiene, lifestyle modifications, breathing exercises, and home monitoring. This study provides a foundation for developing postoperative care plans for patients undergoing flexible endoscopic laryngeal biopsy, contributing to improve treatment quality.
