Abstract

Our study was conducted on 50 patients at Endoscopy Department, National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital from February 2023 to August 2023 to assess the monitoring and postoperative care for patients undergoing flexible laryngeal microsurgery. Patient characteristics: The mean age was 42,2 ± 10,05, with a male-to-feamle ratio of 1:3.1; and teachers accounted for 36% of the study population. Preoperative clinical symptoms commonly included hoarseness (100%) and breathlessness (76%). Preoperative voice characteristics: moderate hoarseness (52%), intermittent hoarseness (76%), breathiness (76%), vocal strain, and vocal fatigue (74%). There were no significant differences between preoperative and postoperative skin and mucosal pigmentation, vital signs, and mental status. After surgery, no complications were witnessed in 96% of patients, while 100% experienced laryngeal edema. In terms of monitoring and postoperative care, all patients received thorough care and guidance from medical staff. Adherence to prescribed medications and health education instructions after discharge was 100%, while compliance with proper lying posture and dietary recommendations during hospitalization reached 96%. This study provides a comprehensive evaluatation the oversight and post-surgical management of patients undergoing flexible endoscopic laryngeal microsurgery, serving as a basis for optimizing postoperative care strategies.
