A RARE CASE REPORT: TERATOMA OF THE NASAL ROOT
Main Article Content
Abstract
Teratomas of the head and neck region are very rare, with facial teratomas being extremely uncommon, accounting for less than 6% of all teratoma cases. With diverse clinical presentations and the support of imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, ultrasound, and advancements in molecular biotechnology, the diagnosis and treatment of teratomas have seen significant progress.
We report a case of a benign dermoid cyst teratoma at the nasal root in a 22-year-old male patient, who was admitted to the hospital due to a large, painless swelling at the nasal root. MRI imaging revealed a large, space-occupying lesion with fat density at the nasal root.
The patient underwent surgical excision of the mass, and histopathology confirmed a benign teratoma. The patient was discharged within 3 days post-surgery and was scheduled for continued follow-up.
