SURVEYING THE IMPROVEMENT OF CHRONIC RHINOSINUSITIS IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS UNDERGOING ENDOSCOPIC ADENOIDECTOMY WITH PLASMA

Abstract
Introduction: Chronic rhinosinusitis is a common disease amongst children, especially those under 6 years old. Végétations adenoids (VA) is considered one of the causes of the disease. Various studies have shown that in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and chronic adenoiditis hypertrophy, adenoidectomy has a positive effect on improving the patients’ conditions of chronic rhinosinusitis. In Vietnam, research on this issue is still limited however. Thus, this study was conducted with the goal of "Surveying the improvement of chronic rhinosinusitis in pediatric patients undergoing endoscopic adenoidectomy with plasma". Materials - methods: A descriptive study was performed on 47 pediatric patients aged 2-7 years who were diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis according to EPOS 2020 with chronic adenoiditis hypertrophy grade 2 or higher. This patient group undergone endoscopic adenoidectomy with plasma at the Ho Chi Minh City Otolaryngology Hospital, between March 2021 and October 2021. Results: ComRegarding the improvement of chronic rhinosinusitis: functional symptoms improve from 80% - 100% after six months. In terms of endoscopic images, the improvement after a month was 78.6%. Conclusion: Adenoidectomy significantly improved chronic rhinosinusitis and is considered the first step in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis in children.
