THE EFFECT OF TRV CHAIR REPOSITION MANOEUVRES ON BPPV PATIENTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the impact on quality of life according to the DHI scale of BPPV patients and to evaluate the effectiveness of TRV chair reposition manoeuvres. Patients and methods: 86 patients were diagnosed BPPV at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Tam Anh General Hospital from March to September 2024, randomly divided into 2 groups: Group 1 included 38 patients treated with a TRV chair reposition manoeuvres alone, Group 2 included 48 patients treated with a combination of TRV chair reposition manoeuvres and medication. Results: The majority of patients were female with a rate of 79.1%. The average DHI score before treatment was 64.9 ± 18.6. The average DHI score after treatment was 13.1 ± 14.3, the average value of change in DHI before and after treatment was 51.8 ± 18.9 points. In the TRV-only group, the DHI score after treatment was 13.5 ± 15.7, with an improvement score compared to before treatment of 49.7 ± 20.5. In the TRV-medication group, the DHI score after treatment was 12.6 ± 13.8, with an improvement score compared to before treatment of 53.7 ± 17.2. There was no statistically significant difference in treatment effectiveness between the two groups (p>0.05). Conclusions: The DHI of BPPV patients before treatment was mainly at a severe level with a rate of 56.9%. After treatment, there was a significant improvement in the DHI score, with an average of 13.1 ± 14.3. There was no difference in treatment effectiveness between the TRV-only group and the TRV-medication group.
